Philosophy and Psychoanalysis - July 2006

silent scream

July 28th 2006 10:07
melbourne is a mecca when it come to psychoanalytic events..this weekend alone there is a lacan conference, a lacan public lecture, two film offerings as part of the international film festival, a book launch, a reading group ...just to name a few events!

is this good thing?
i am not sure it is.

the private adventure that is psychoanalysis is a joint effort between analyst and analysand...as love unfolds in and out of the session, a knowledge of 'what-is' is uncovered....we have two that travel long and deep into each other

but we have the ask the question where is this co-be/longing written?

currently all the analytic groups in melbourne are embedded in the very structure they seek by the clinical intervention to overthrow....the patriarchal institution

the silencing that is inscribed in the written and delivered papers of one half of the analytic couple is the horror that is perpetuated, these are the papers that are presented at such conferences and seminars...this silence carries the strains of patriarchy well into the night...for what can be said if it is half said?

what is done by way of a speaking of analytic knowledge is another form of institutional horror....for one voice is absent, one lover is silent...and so patriarchy of the institution is continued and repeated again and again with each half said, with each silence
we walk through the doors of our mind, my mind, your mind, her mind, his mind as lovers entwined..but yet we are criminals when it comes to writing a knowledge

.....and since it isn't, then I really have a choice here...to speak or not to speak.

This of course is the article of resistance circulating again and again in the analytic space...what will I say? what will be said and why now? why at all?

In psychoanalysis the analysand enters into a place of speech, becomes a speaking being....an act of becoming itself.

This may seem a strange thing, and yes, it is....but it is in the belief that though speaking a truth in uncovered. And truth does have a strange sound to it, as it is truth that has been long forgotten (read previous post).

Amidst, beneath and betwixt the words of the speaker lies the truth. The lacuna or the unseen, the unspoken that is remains, the empty space between...this is what really is, and through a sustained desire we in analysis remain to one day speak of this space.
